LaSalle Parish Elementary Division Student of the Year Madeline Randall was recently recognized by the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) for being a Regional Nominee. After winning at the District level of the competition (LaSalle Parish), Randall moved on to compete in the Regional level where she was recognized for her impressive performance. Although she did not win the Regional level to advance to the state level, having advanced as far as she did was an outstanding feat. “In conjunction with the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE), the LDOE recognizes outstanding fifth, eighth and twelfth grade students who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, academic performance, achievements, citizenship and service to the school and community through the Students of the Year program,” officials wrote. Good Pine Middle School Principal Melinda Robison said that she and the entire student body are extremely proud of Randall for her achievements in being recognized as one of the top fifth graders in all of Louisiana. Madeline Randall, the daughter of John Paul and Lacey Randall, is a fifth grader at Good Pine Middle School. The following is her essay that was submitted as part of the competition: “My name is Madeline Randall, and I am eleven years old.
