Hundreds of junior high and high school students from LaSalle and Catahoula parishes gathered for the first ever Fields of Faith event Wednesday, November 20 at the Jena High School baseball complex at the Jena Town Park. The free event was sponsored by Fellowship of Christian Athletes, headed by the LaSalle and Catahoula FCA Area Representative Jacob Weaver.
Prior to the start of the event, youth played games and enjoyed free hot dogs provided by WoodmenLife.
During the event, students participated in worship led by the Sunnyside Baptist Church youth worship band in Catahoula Parish and listened to several testimonies from college athletes and FCA members.
The message was brought by FCA staff member Ira Jewitt, from Baton Rouge, and at the end of the night, fourteen students came forward to commit their lives to Jesus.
Fields of Faith is a nationwide ministry program where athletes gather at sport environments in their communities to challenge themselves and their peers to worship, read their Bible and engage in prayer. Leadership and sponsors hope to make Fields of Faith an annual event for LaSalle and Catahoula parishes and see many more young athletes and students engage in a deeper relationship with Jesus.
