It’s been over a decade since this newspaper has entered the Louisiana Press Association’s annual Better Newspaper Competition, an awards competition of all newspapers in the state. There are various divisions, separating the state’s papers from daily to non-daily and then by subscription numbers to make the competition fair. The Jena Times Olla-Tullos-Urania Signal falls into the largest non-daily category in the state. The contest is judged by another state’s newspaper association.
