TV commercials used to be fun. They were entertaining, eye catching and appealed to viewers from toddlers and kids of all ages. Lasting anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute, these animated wonders featured larger than life characters like Tony the Tiger peddling cornflakes and Ronald McDonald with his ear-to-ear smile selling Happy Meals. There were catchy little tunes that stuck in your head for hours, days… Who am I kidding? Kids from the seventies are still humming them today! I can still recall the lyrics to Woodsy Owl singing, “Give a hoot, don’t pollute”, and can visualize Coca Cola’s famous mass ‘world’ choir wearing sock hats, holding lit candles and singing, “I’d like to buy the world a coke to keep it company…it’s the real thing, Coke is.” Those were the days.
