Early Bow Fishing on Local Waterways
Bowfishing or the pursuit of fish with a bow and arrow has seen a resurgence in the last several years, but it’s been around long before modern fishermen discovered it. Local waterways such as Hemps Creek, Galvin’s Creek, Green’s Creek and others - including some rivers - served as sources for early LaSalle Parish people to not only pole fish, but to bow fish and bag trout, buffalo and lesser-known fish such as jackfish and Polly wogs for food sources.
