Jena High School is set to honor one of their longest serving coaches in school history.
Ted McKee served as the boys’ basketball coach and other assistant coaching capacities for many years at JHS from the 1980’s to the 2000’s. He even returned briefly a few of years ago to coach after he’d long since retired to help the school out of a bind.
McKee is remembered for his highly competitive squads he placed on the courts each year.
JHS will honor the coach during the district basketball games this Friday, January 12, when Jena takes on Bolton.
A reception in McKee’s honor will occur prior to the games at 5 p.m. at the Jena Giant Field House.
The Lady Giants’ game will begin at 6 p.m. in Guy Campbell Memorial Gymnasium and following that game, prior to the start of the Giants’ game, a special presentation will be made to Coach McKee.
Officials are asking for all former players of Coach McKee to make plans to attend the reception and the presentation between the games.
