Town & Country Garden Club Notes

On December 5, 2023, we drove out to the Whitehall Plantation Lodge for our annual Christmas party.

Present were: Nelda Tarver, Martha Ann Wood, Judy Baker, Glenda Cooper, Beth Zollar, Lisa McCann, Mica King, Cynthia Bradford, Denise Grissom, Donna Justiss, Jenna Fae Justiss, Sis Welch and Jennifer Loe. We missed those that could not be present with us that day for many reasons. Some are dealing with hardships and our thoughts are with them. Some of us are just feeling tense and rushed to go places and get things done.

When you enter the grounds surrounding the lodge you may get a sense of calm. The leaves on the trees are a striking color of orange this year.

Nelda and Donna were our hostesses. The lodge with the Christmas tree had lovely holiday decorations. For our meal, we had a variety of foods and different covered dishes. The conversation at the table usually involves sharing of recipes and our plans for the holiday. Of course, we shared lots of good memories of Christmases past.

After lunch, Donna led us in a short business meeting. Nelda read about Jesus’ birth from the Bible. We then drew names and gave that person the gift we had brought. It was fun to give, get and admire all the nice gifts.

Glenda and Donna made sweet treats for us to take home with us.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.
