The Burn Ban that has been in effect for months was officially removed late last week as rains were welcomed to the area.
LaSalle Parish Fire Chief’s Association President and Jena Fire Chief Josh Corley announced the chief’s voted to remove the ban after significant rainfall totals were recorded throughout the parish.
More rain was expected early this week to continue to provide much needed relief from drought conditions.
The Burn Ban had been in place since early summer and was removed briefly in mid-October until forest fires had the ban put back into place.
Officials are hoping that a continued pattern of rain forecasted will come to fruition and the ban will not have to be reinstated this year.
