Pinehill Baptist Church in Olla will be having their Homecoming Service on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.
The guest speaker will be Bro. George Ferrington from Winnsboro. The guest singers will be the gospel group “Made by Mercy” from Homer, LA.

The class of 1956 will meet at the Brisket House in Jena for lunch on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 11 a.m. following the parade.

LHS 1973 Class Reunion
The 1973 LaSalle High School graduates will be celebrating 50 years, Thursday, October 12 – Saturday, October 14, 2023.
Thurs., Oct. 12 at 5:30 p.m. Meet at the Olla Monument Shop to decorate the float.
Fri., Oct. 13 10 a.m. Morning homecoming program in the LHS Gym. 1 p.m. To ride on the float in the parade, meet at the Olla Rec Hall. 7 p.m. Football game; the LHS Tigers will Montgomery.
Sat., Oct. 14 Food and vendors will be set up in downtown Olla.
4 p.m. Class members and their guests will meet at the Woodman of the World Hall in Urania for food, photos and fun.

The annual reunion of the descendants of Alma Nelson and Flora Tackett James will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Clarks Community Center in Clarks, LA.

The newly renovated LaSalle Parish Museum celebrated opening day on Sept. 4. The staff would like to thank our visitors.

Common Ground Service
The LaSalle Ministerial Alliance will host the Common Ground Community Worship Service on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at 6 p.m. at the Wild Horse Ministries Pavilion, Appleby Road, Trout, LA.
Since 2018, LaSalle churches have met annually for united worship and prayer. The goal of these services is to unite our churches across denominations in the love of Christ, as an example to the next generation.
The event is led my multiple pastors and church leaders, each meeting consists of worship and prayer with no main speaker. All are invited to attend.

JHS Class of ‘83 Reunion
The graduates of the JHS Class of 1983 will be celebrating our years together in Jena schools and our 40 years since graduation. If you or someone you know is a 1983 JHS graduate or went to school with us in earlier years between 1971 and 1983, please let them know of the festivities and this invitation to join in the fun.
Your reunion committee has planned the following: Thursday, Oct. 5 Preparations 5-6 p.m. Come help decorate and get tables and chairs set up at the Woodmen of the World (WOW) building located at 1720 E Oak Street (next to Townsmen Inn). If you ordered a t-shirt, you can pick it up at this time.
Friday, Oct. 6 Homecoming 8:30 a.m. Decorate the float at Jena High School 11 a.m. Pep rally in Guy Campbell Memorial Gym. We will sit together.
12:30 p.m. Town parade 1:30ish We will do lunch together after the parade at the WOW building. We need all hands on deck to help clean up after lunch to be ready for the Post-Game Party!
6:30 p.m. Pre-game activities such as presenting the court begins at the JHS football field.
7 p.m. Football game begins at the field. We will sit together.
Reunion at the WOW building will follow the game (1720 E Oak Street) Music, photographer and mingling, along with light party foods.
How can you help?
• We will have a trailer with hay for the parade float, so dress accordingly and bring a blanket for a more comfortable ride.
• If you can, bring candy and/or trinkets to throw
• Bring a dessert or drinks to the post-parade lunch
• Bring finger foods or snacks to the post-game reunion • Bring your fees with you, if you have no yet paid $35 for reunion, plus an additional $20 if you bring a guest to the catered lunch
• Stick around for clean-up after lunch and/or the Friday night festivities.

Class of 1968 55th Reunion
The 1968 Jena High School graduates will be celebrating 55 years, October 6, 2023.
10 a.m. Float Decorating 12 p.m. Pep Rally 1 p.m. Parade End of parade until 6 p.m. Food and visit at 179 Edwards Street (Bring finger foods, chips, dip, drinks, desserts and sandwiches.) Donations will be received there to cover expenses.

JHS 1963 Class Reunion
The 1963 Jena High School graduates will be celebrating 60 years, October 6, 2023.
Many of us are looking forward to it and would like to get the word out to as many of our classmates as possible. If you know of someone that graduated in 1963 or even began school with us in 1951, please pass the word on to them.
Thursday, Oct. 5 2-4 p.m. We will meet at First Baptist Church in Jena to decorate the float. If time permits, we will also decorate the room reserved in the Family Life Center at FBC.
Friday, Oct. 6 11:30 a.m. Pep Rally (doors open at 11) 12 p.m. Meet at the float – it leaves JHS at 12:30. After the parade, meet at the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church Jena. The room will be reserved until 11 p.m. that day.
6:30 p.m. Pre-game activities. 7 p.m. Football game. If you cannot attend the game, feel free to go to the room reserved at First Baptist. The room will be open to our class until 11 p.m.

Fall Fifth Quarter Events
The final Fifth Quarter event will be following the JHS home game on October 27. All students, grades 6-12, are invited!
High school students will be at Temple Baptist Church and junior high students will be at First Baptist Church, Jena. There will be snacks, games and giveaways at each event
Fall Canning Class by LSU Ag
The LSU AgCenter will host a Fall Canning Class on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 12, noon in the Extension Meeting Room at the LaSalle Parish Courthouse. Cost to attend $15.
This will be a hands-on interactive workshop with everyone working in groups. Participants will enjoy a lesson about proper canning methods, which foods are good to can in the fall time- such as pepper jelly and learn the boiling water canning method.
Class is limited to 20 adult participants. Everyone will take home a jar of pepper jelly made in the class.

Wild Horse Ministries
