Last week, the Jena branch of the LaSalle Parish Library hosted a one-day NASA Astro Camp to Go. The camp was taught by Jennifer DePriest, the Director of CenlaSTEM at the Region 6 LaSTEM Center.
During the NASA Astro Day Camp, fifteen 3rd-6th graders were able make glow in the dark slime, learn how rockets are constructed and insulated and build their own gliders and fizzy rockets. Once the rockets were assembled, everyone went outside to conduct a test flight.
The supplies of the camp were purchased and provided by CenlaSTEM, the Region 6 LaSTEM Center.
This camp is just one way that the CenlaSTEM has been working to partner with organizations in LaSalle Parish to bring STEM-related activities and devices, like programming and robotics, to its students.
