For most people their home town, the place where they were born, is a special place where you know everyone and feel at home. For me home town is Alexandria, LA and my parents were also born there. Alexandria was the big apple of central Louisiana where most roads passed through easily connecting Alexandria with the rest of the state. For this reason many conventions and family reunions were held in this centrally located town. The railroad ran through along with the Red River and Alexandria had two airports at one time. England Air Force base was located there and Fort Polk was just down the road. Pineville is Alexandria’s sister city and is just across the Red River. Its central location meant many people would come to the city to shop, eat out and go to the movies. Alexandria also has many motel rooms for longer stays. It is also a medical mecca for surrounding small towns where many medical professionals have their offices located.
