A Jena woman was arrested Saturday night, May 20, for illegal drugs after calling police to come to her home.
Lisa Brown, 31, called and reported that someone was trying to break in to her home on Breithaupt Street in Jena. The call was reported as a “burglary in progress.”
A Jena Police Department officer and LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to the residence and found Brown and her one-year-old son standing outside the residence, again telling officers that someone was trying to break in.
Law enforcement officers went inside the home to make sure no one was inside and, in the process, they observed in plain sight, a kitchen plate containing suspected methamphetamine.
Further search of the home revealed numerous clear plastic baggies containing suspected methamphetamine along with an assortment of pills.
Although officers found suspected all types of illegal drugs, they could find no evidence of an attempted break-in at the home.
Brown was arrested at the scene and booked into the LaSalle Parish Jail on charges of possession of CDS II methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of CDS in the presence of a juvenile, possession of CDS III Buprenorphine Hydrochloride and Naloxone Hydrochloride, possession of CDS IV Alphrazolam and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Law enforcement contacted someone to take custody of the child at the scene.
