Some 20 LaSalle Parish youth recently participated in the Centennial Cultural Center’s Robotics Camp, held April 11-13, at the center in Olla.
Sponsored by DRAX, the camp was led by Northwestern State University Region 6 Director Jennifer Depriest along with instructors Alejandra LaChance and Catlin Burke.
During the three-day camp held during Easter break, campers discovered the fundamentals of STEM through fun, hands-on challenging activities.
They learned about the Engineering notebook and were instructed on how to build different robots by using beams, electronics, motors and sensors.
Also, the campers learned to pair, configure and code controllers. They prepped and prepared their robots to compete in the mini “Up and Over” competition.
Instructors noted that all of the activities and events at the Robotics Camp was designed to give them the opportunity to stimulate their imagination and explore new ways of creating and cooperating as a team.
The Centennial Cultural Center would like to say “Thank you” to the great instructors, volunteers and our sponsor, DRAX, for making such a great camp a tremendous success.
