Louisiana Protective Orders for Domestic Abuse: Domestic Abuse includes but not limited to acts between family members, household members or dating partners: physical abuse, sexual abuse, stalking or cyberstalking, or abuse of an adult by an adult child. Types of Protective Orders: • Emergency Temporary Restraining Order: This is issued outside of regular court hours if there is an “immediate and present danger of abuse.” The judge will consider all past history of abuse and it will be in effect until the close of the next day the court is open. The victim must appear in court to request a temporary restraining order (TRO) or protective order (PO).
