This is another article about the settlement of Texas and the brave men and women who lived and died there. Deciding to live in Texas in frontier days was not for the faint-hearted. Several tribes of Indians lived there and they were determined to wipe out white settlers as soon as they appeared. The Comanche tribe was particularly vicious to the whites, but other tribes in the area were in agreement with the Comanche. Here is an article about the attack by the Comanche tribe on the communities of Victoria and Linnville, Texas. In the summer of 1840 the Comanches were constantly attacking and killing white settlers on an individual basis and in small communities as well. These Indians stole horses, killed cattle, killed settlers, and scalping men, women, and children alike.
