Dr. John Charles Cooksey spent his early childhood years in Georgetown and later in Burlington where his father operated a lumber mill and building supply company. The family then made their home in Olla where his mother was an English teacher and guidance counselor for LaSalle High School. He graduated from LaSalle High School in 1959.
