Instructor Kim Aldrich for The Strand Village Project #thrive Arts program in Jena, speaks to Jena Junior High student Raylee Poole about Aldrich’s painting of poppies that she created using acrylic at the program’s open house event. Poole is attending the #thrive Arts after-school program in Jena for youth grades 6 to 12 that is going on now until April. The program in Olla is currently enrolling students (space is limited) with workshops set for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m. at Recreation District 22 in Olla from March 1 to April 28 (excluding April 19 and 21). The instructor is Angela Smith and the site coach is Sara Gifford. The programs are funded in part by a Substance and Alcohol Abuse Program Prevention Grant from The Rapides Foundation.
