LaSalle High graduate Kade Hillestad was named Angler of the Year after claiming a #1 ranking for the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) Warhawk Fishing. He ranked #2 last year. This year, as part of the ULM Top 6 qualifiers, he advances to the traveling team and competes against other colleges for their team’s spot in the National College Championships in spring. ULM won National Championships in 2018 and 2013. Hillestad’s next tournament will be on January 21 at Toledo Bend. He will then travel to tournaments in Texas, Missouri and Tennessee. He was also the 2019 ALBC (Association of Louisiana Bass Clubs) high school state champion while a student at LaSalle High. Hillestad is a sophomore Pharmacy major and on the Dean’s List. He is the son of Steve and Shannon Hillestad of Grayson.
