Sophie Williams, 8-year-old daughter of Lindsay Francis and Nathan and Taylor Williams, has her shoe tied by the catcher of the opposing team during a USSSA tournament game in Tioga recently. Sophie’s mom said on her Facebook page, “Sportsmanship at its finest! Big shout out to the catcher from ‘Pitchin Fitz’ for helping Sophie out in the box.” The catcher (Annie) heard parents and coaches calling out to Sophie that her shoe was untied, and took the initiative to pause the game, and tied her shoe for her. Sophie plays for the Jena Gypsies.
