Kevin Salter got the shock of his life about 9 p.m. last Wednesday night, August 18, when he stepped out of his home onto the back porch and came within two steps from this creature – a five-foot long alligator. Salter said there is no pond or creek near his home, which is located just south of Hardtner Medical Center on U.S. 165 in Urania. He said he figured the ‘gator crossed U.S. 165 four-lane highway and ended up at his home. “No more will I step out onto the porch at night without turning the light on,” he said, as he warned others to be alert to your surroundings, especially at night.
