Help For Dom. Violence Victims
The Wellspring Alliance for Families serves victims of domestic violence throughout LaSalle Parish. Our mission is to reduce the devastating impact of domestic violence on individuals, children, families, and communities.
Free, confidential services are now available in the new Jena office located at 1043 Courthouse Street. Services include safety planning, referrals to community resources, case management, transitional housing, protective orders, life skills classes, and more. For an appointment, call 348-3005.
Utility Assistance for Sr. Citizens
Utility assistance is available for eligible seniors at LaSalle Council on Aging located at 530 East Bradford Street in Jena. Seniors must be at least sixty years of age. V.F.W. Meeting in Jena
If you are a spouse of or have had a family member that served in a foreign war the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 5002 members invite you to join them at their monthly meeting.
The meetings are held every second Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the V.F.W. Post in Jena. Standing members are encouraged to attend as well. If you are interested in joining, call Verna Appleby at 992-2371 or Kim Randall at 992-4946.
LaSalle Celebrate Recovery
LaSalle Celebrate Recovery is a free 52-week Christ-centered 12-step program for any life controlling issue. Common Ground Worship Services
There are two upcoming Common Ground Community events. The first will be the Common Ground Youth Revival on Saturday, August 28 at 6 p.m. at LifePoint in Jena. The second is a Community Worship Service on Sunday, August 29 at 6 p.m. at the Jena High School Auditorium in Jena.
Special guest speaker Ron Rhoads is a non-denominational evangelist with a powerful testimony of God’s physical and emotional healing through life’s tests and trials. Small Spurs Jackpot Rodeos
The LaSalle Riding Club in Jena will host a series of Small Spurs Jackpot Rodeos: July 24, August 7 and September 18. Registration starts at 4 p.m. and the age 0-6 events start at 5 p.m.
All age 0-6 and assisted events will run first followed by all other age groups. The assisted events will be Barrels, Poles and Arena Race for $5.00 each. All ages are welcome but must be led. The 0-6 age group events include Barrels, Poles and Arena Race for $10 each as well as the goat tail ribbon pulling (0-4) for $12, goat flipping (5-6) for $12 and sheep riding for $15. The 7-10 age group events include Barrels, Poles, Arena Race and Goat Tying for $15 each and calf riding for $20.
The older age groups (11-14 / 15-18 / 19+) events include Barrels, Poles, Arena Race and Goat Tying for $15 each. The breakaway event is $20 each for age groups 15 under and 16 over. VBS @ Pleasant Hill BC
Vacation Bible School will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church (located at 297 Pleasant Hill Road) in Jena from Wednesday to Friday, July 21-23, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. each night. Commencement will be Sunday, July 25 at 6 p.m. All kids, Pre-K through eighth grade, are invited to attend. The theme this year is “Jesus Saves” and the lessons will be on “The Roman Road to Salvation.” Pastor Bro. Ricky Gresham invites all kids in these age groups to join in for three nights of funfilled joy in learning about Jesus!

Master Gardeners Class
LaSalle and Grant Master Gardeners Class will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, August 5 at the Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center on LA 8 near Pollock. Enrollment now is being accepted. Master Gardeners are AgCenter Volunteers who receive horticultural training in weeds, insects, plant diseases, turf, vegetables, ornamentals and other related topics.
