Goodness has been sacrificed for speed
I wrote the following article twenty years ago. After reading an opinion piece by the great Jim Minter (editor of the Atlanta Journal Constitution at the time) in the Town Talk, lamenting the impersonality of the modern world, I sent him this article. He loved it, and used excerpts in his national column one week later. It was, and has remained, a highlight regarding my efforts at writing weekly articles. Having the approval of Jim Minter was like having Elvis telling you that you could sing. Here’s the article from two decades ago, and it still rings true to me:
