Library’s Summer Reading Program!

Author/illustrator Ariane Trammell engaged local children with her storytelling and art lesson last week as part of the La- Salle Parish Library’s Summer Reading Program at the LaSalle Parish Libraries in Jena and Olla. Trammell is from Ponchatoula, Louisiana and is an artist, storyteller, children’s book author and illustrator with books such as Where the Grass is Always Greener, Run! Boudin, Run!, Cicada’s Song and Couillon the Crawfish. She is also a talented musician. This Friday (June 18), the library will host Louisiana musician Elizabeth “Lady Chops” Vidos, a south Louisiana native, who will demonstrate a variety of skills with traditional and non-traditional percussion instruments from drums and egg shakers to buckets and brooms. The Friday program was provided in collaboration with the McKinney-Vento Foundation.
