Glenda Bea Whatley, 63, of Omaha, Texas, passed from this life on Monday, October 7, 2013, at Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler, Texas. She was born February 2, 1950 in Jena to the union of Elzie Norman and Ethel Beatrice Townsend. Mrs. Whatley was a homemaker. Services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 10, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Ronnie House and Jimmie Thornhill officiating. Interment followed in the Jena Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena. She was preceded in death by her mother; son, Henry DeWayne Whatley; and grandson, DeWayne Vandver Whatley. Survivors include her husband, Henry V. Whatley of Omaha, TX; father, Elzie N. Smith of Jena; one son, Michael Whatley and wife Jennifer Fleming Whatley of Omaha, TX; a sister, Sallie Smith Thornhill and husband Jimmie of Jena; a brother, Norman Curtis Smith of Gilmer, TX; three grandchildren, Jacob Curtis Whatley, Michael Tanner Whatley, and Emma Lee Beatrice Whatley; one great grandson, Coby Curtis Whatley; and a nephew, Derek Smith. Pallbearers were Tanner Whatley, Jacob Whatley, James Crooks, John Robbins, Heath Guinn and Tommy Farris. Honorary pallbearers were Floyd Whatley and Don Whatley.
