Martin Paul “Buddy” Eikert, 70, of Bastrop, and formerly of Jena, passed from this life on Sunday, March 3, 2013. He was born February 12, 1943 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to the union of his parents, Kenneth and Lorraine Eikert. Mr. Eikert was a retired operation supervisor from International Paper Company after 36 years of service. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a Louisiana State University alumni. Buddy was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop with Rev. Kenneth Ronaghan officiating. Interment followed in the Christ Church Cemetery of Bastrop under direction of Golden Funeral Home of Bastrop. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Kenneth Mayo Eikert. Survivors include his wife, Ann Kelly Eikert of Bastrop; three daughters, Laura Bailey and husband DeWayne of Jena, Tracy O’Quin and husband Michael of Lonepine, and Kathleen Adams and husband Jeremy of Bastrop; one son, Paul Eikert of Bastrop; seven grandchildren, Caitlin Bailey, Caroline Bailey, Catherine Bailey, Claire Bailey, Morgan Feazell and husband Jason, Ethan DeVille, Isabella Adams; and two great grandchildren, Ariel Feazell and Aurora Feazell. Pallbearers were De-Wayne Bailey, Jeremy Adams, Charles Sims, Michael O’Quin, and Ethan DeVille.
